It was an absolute pleasure being helped by Shoreline Cremation, during such a horribly painful and stressful period! We started with a different funeral home, that was “full-service”. However, my beloved family member only wanted a simple cremation and absolutely no funeral. So in general it only costs between $250.00-$500.00 for a basic cremation; however, the average cost is $2, 000.00, which isn’t unreasonable. Additionally, we found out that Medicaid has a death benefit of $1, 800.00 towards cremation. So not only did the initial business not inform us of this, but they were not willing to bill her health insurance. They wanted to charge $7, 000.00 to come out of her life insurance only for cremation, and for a brief final viewing just her children, where they offered to place her body on a stretcher with a sheet over her. I felt this would be extremely traumatic for her younger children, and the youngest child, flat out refused to say “goodbye” to her mother, if she had to see her like that. Their mother wanted as little spent on her end of life expenses as possible, so that the bulk of her life insurance would go directly towards her 4 children (1 already in college, and the other going to college next year), as well as, her 3 grandchildren. On a late Sunday evening, Joe one of the co-owners spent hours on the phone helping us navigate an area that was completely foreign and beyond confusing. Without any frustration, other than the way that my family was treated, he invested hours of time & energy, while exhibiting such compassion. He literally provided the much needed hand-holding we needed at this point; even as we were bombarded with a multitude of challenges and time constraints. He literally walked us through step by step!!!! I am forever grateful that my loved-one’s body was treated with such dignity, respect, and reverence prior to being cremated; and particularly that her children were providing a brief intimate and beautiful viewing where she was able to be dressed, propped with beautiful pillows, and covered with a lovely blanket, on a lovely but covered table. This gave them a much needed private opportunity to say, "good-bye" to the most important & influential person in each of their lives, while being in a positive and completely non-traumatic setting. Her daughter actually said, "Mom looked beautiful and peaceful, just like she was sleeping". That was exactly what I hoped, for her children's last visual image of their mother; which will stick with them for the rest of their lives! His brother James, the other co-owner, worked with us as well, and he showed such patience & kindness; plus, he was so helpful with addressing the challenges associated with retrieving her body, the significant time limitations that resulted, and he still made it possible to schedule a time that same day for her kids to have a viewing! They only charged $1, 800.00 for the cremation, you paid up front, they submit the billing to Medicaid, and once reimbursed, they send you a photo of the check they received and immediately send the money to you. Of course there had to be a credit card issue, as due to the large amount, a freeze was automatically placed on my card. I’m panicking trying to correct everything immediately, but my schedule was jam packed that day. He calmly told me not to even concern myself with paying the bill today; and that tomorrow morning they would run my card again, when the office opened. This immediately relieved me, so I was able to continue with the rest of my day without additional stress. The entire office staff, during every single interaction, was extremely kind, helpful, and showed exemplary professionalism. This is never an easy time, when a loved-one passes, but it is even harder when there is confusion, your needs and requests are not being met, or when experiencing feelings of being taken advantage of in any way, while you are at your most vulnerable. Shoreline Cremation incorporated a sense of morality and ethical beliefs into the manner in which they conduct business. I am so grateful!

James and Joe were both very professional but also very helpful and compassionate. They walked us through every step and took such good care of our family. I also have to say that the cost was half of other funeral parlors in the area. Our whole family is very happy we found Shoreline Cremation for our aunt. We highly recommend them.

I would just like to thank Joe and James from Shoreline Cremation for their kindness while I was making funeral arrangements for the passing of my brother Gary. There was nothing in place my brother as far as arrangements and I was very worried. A friend recommended that I call Shoreline Cremation. Starting from my very first phone call when Joe answered the phone, I felt a sense of relief for he was very calming when I explained that my brother did not have much time left for he was very sick. Joe explained that when the time does come, just call him or James and they will help me with what is necessary. This helped me focus on spending the valuable time I needed with my brother as much as I possibly could without worrying about what is to come regarding arrangements. I was not sure of all that was necessary for this funeral because I needed to plan everything separately, and that was very stressful. Joe and James are not only helpful, but are pleasant to work with and will speak with you at any time for I definitely had many questions. They also stayed with us through to the end of our ceremony providing support for a proper sendoff. Shoreline Cremation services were very accommodating for what I needed to get through this process. When we lost my sister a year ago it was under very difficult circumstances. Joe sensitively guided us in preparation, always immediately responsive and available any time day or night. When we needed him, he and David arrived immediately, respectfully, with a quiet, understanding presence, which allowed us to grieve without any other consideration. Joe and David went beyond service. In loss, one needs the accommodating and caring they so gracefully provide.

At the oh, so sad and stressful time for our family of our loved one dying, Joe at Shoreline Cremation was there for us every hard step of the way. We had less than 48 hours over a weekend to make so many decisions and arrangements. Joe was incredibly responsive to our myriad of questions, and he was gentle, kind, knowledgeable and supportive. He went the extra mile to see us through the whole difficult week. We are extremely grateful to Joe, David and Shoreline Cremation for their important service and dedication, and especially for comforting our broken hearts.

Over the past 13 months many of us have lost loved ones. This year we lost 3 members of our family. Planning funerals has become all too common. Recently I lost my husband. To say my kids and I were devastated would be an understatement. My daughter and I called several local funeral homes to see if the could fulfill my husband's wishes for a simple cremation. The popular, go to, often used funeral homes only made our task more difficult. My daughter was frustrated with the all too common practice of "up-selling". Trying to convince us we needed certain services when they were reminded it was a cremation. I then remembered seeing a Shoreline Cremation brochure recently. I called them and the staff was sympathetic and understanding. The ease with which they dealt with us made it possible to fulfill my husband's wishes without unnecessary drama. Joe & David listened and then kept us on track with paperwork, forms and tasks. During these unpleasant times they were a pleasure to work with. Services went smoothly. Friends who attended called to say how safe they felt in these seemingly unsafe times. It was little things that I had not seen at the other services we attended this year. Things like sterilized pens for the guestbook that were constantly monitored and rotated upon use. Then there were the little individual bottles of hand sanitizers for the visitors to use and take. My family can not say enough about how much we appreciated the staff and all they did for us. The service was beautiful and exactly what my husband would have wanted. I would recommend Shoreline Cremations for anyone needing funeral services. They will be our "Go-To" funeral directors in the future. (Note: we paid for a beautiful memorable service; not some popular brand name. With Shoreline Cremations we never felt like we were being taken advantage of during a stressful time.) Your loved ones ALWAYS deserve the best: Shoreline Cremations is that.

If star ratings were on this page, I would give Shoreline Cremation all 5 STARS! Joe and David were patient, supportive, and very helpful. The service that Shoreline Cremation delivered was excellent and expedient! There were no sales or price gimmicks. Everything is as stated on their website. After mom's passing, I felt guilty leaving my mom in a cold and desolate hospital setting... I felt an overwhelming sense of guilt and despair. However, my worries were not long. It was with a sigh of consolation and relief that I read the email from Joe the next morning that mom's body had been picked up and was already at the funeral home (very next day). In addition, we chose the online obituary to deliver the information to all family members since the internet is accessible to all and reaches the masses. We were able to notify our family in Puerto Rico. I HIGHLY recommend Shoreline Cremation. The service is excellent, the price reasonable and the staff patient and supportive. Thank you much.
